COLORS ARE A MAGIC TRICK
Words and art can inspire new creations. My poem, “Colors are a Magic Trick” in my poetry collection: “There’s a Light at the End of My Muddle” and my painting, “Summer Dance,” were the inspirations for the highly-original Machimina artist, Bleu Oleander’s delightful, ethereal and emotive Machinima Art video production by the same name: “Colors are a Magic Trick”.
OUR EARTH: OUR CHOICE.
WE CAN IF WE CHOOSE, try to preserve the precious and glorious biodiversity of our planet for our children, their children – and for all the species and ecosystems with whom we coexist. Artist ELLEN PALESTRANT, Videographer ERIC COSH & Music Composer AARON A. KAPLAN, pay tribute to those many committed individuals and institutions whose life’s work is the PRESERVATION of the BIODIVERSITY of our EARTH – people such as: E.O. Wilson, John M. Anderson, Maarten De Wit.
WITHIN YOUR IMAGINATION, GARDENS BLOOM: Summer Dance
I like to not have a clear destination in mind when I paint. My process begins with a blank canvas and a trust in my intuitions, my imagination, and the welcome surprises that I discover en route such as the rhythmic motions and the luminescent colors of a SUMMER DANCE.
PAINTING INTUITIVELY
I paint intuitively, propelled often, by my love of color – be it the explorations of one or the varying shades of many hues from light to bright to metallic. In this art piece, SWAN LAKE, the yellow swans and their reflections, stand out vibrantly against a lake scene at night.
YOU CAN BE MORE THAN ONE THING
One art form leads to another and another and new combinations are born such as in A BUTTERFLY CAME TO EMERALD FOREST.
SPONTANEITY: You Can be More than One Kind of Artist
The many forms of artist expression connect and therefore, you need never be only one kind of artist. You can combine your many skills and originate it into something entirely new such as an AUTUMN TREE IN ALL ITS GLORY.
WHIP UP YOUR PAINTS AS IF YOU ARE WHIPPING CREAM
Practice is what it’s about and the actual feel comes with the doing. Your hands become your brain, and in this painting, WANDERERS IN A STRANGE LAND, there are a lot of opportunities for me to explore.
THE CHILD IN ME
The “Child in Me” must not be lost. When I paint, that child-like vision is always within summoning distance. I, too, fly high in a pink sky with the joyful and yet industrious, LUNABERRY MOTHS.
CREATING FROM MAUVE TO PINK TO YELLOW TO BLUE
This artwork, LOOPEDABOUT IN AND OUT, which I painted in acrylics, and inks, portrays the industrious Lunaberry Moths who constantly flutter up, flutter down, loop about – in and out. They never stop ‘Baking and making, shaping and forming, turning out and churning out, decorating, adorning.”
FACES WITHIN LACES: Now I’m Going to Show You Something Really Interesting
Art is about versatility, considerations and choices. I choose, quite spontaneously, what I want to outline with flow acrylics. Painting is about what I see – and then about what you, the viewer sees. Just look at how these faces emerge!
YOU CAN’T WAIT FOR THE PERFECT TIME
I am on a journey of exploration as I look at my yet-to-be-completed painting. I find these journeys exciting. What will it become? An ODE TO GREEN, perhaps?
THE WORLD OF GLIMPSE: THE BEGINNING
Art can begin with a mere glimpse of something which one instinctively, feels compelled to explore further. In this case, that “something” became the fantastical WORLD OF GLIMPSE with stories, poetry, music, animation and art, for example in this painting, WE ARE THE GLIMPSIBLES FLYING THROUGH THE SKY.
WRONG HA WRONNNNG
Destructivity versus Positivity is represented by the Drooma who live in Sooma Sooma – the the Junk Dump of the Universe. They are the avaricious baddies who intrude into the luminescent, creative color world of Glimpse. Ellen Palestrant, Maryanne Kremer-Ames and Allen Ames have fun performing this excerpt from the book, THE WORLD OF GLIMPSE.
SONGS AND SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE
Songs and Sounds of the Universe emanate from the never ending, mysterious, luminous, fantastical WORLD OF GLIMPSE.
ALL OF LIFE HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BE A FANTASY
The wonderful colors in nature as the seasons change, are for me invitations into my imagination. THE GOLDEN BRANCHES OF AUTUMN was inspired by many hikes through forests. All of nature for me, has the potential to become both fantasy art and make-believe stories.
MYSTERIOUS: PENETRATING TEXTURES
I find the process of painting exciting because I never know what I will discover on my intuitive journey into my art. I paint with thick paint and many layers and therefore, there is much to penetrate. I find those hidden things in between the levels of paint, very mysterious.
NIGHT FALLS ON PINK CITY
Outlining with dipping pen and ink, my painting progresses from almost done to done. An illuminated, fantasy, pink city contrast with the black of the night.
APPEARANCES IN THE NIGHT
I depict these illuminated appearances in the night as mysterious, beautiful and also frightening. Within the painting, strands of time web and define the images that appear in the darkness.
I AM A SELF-TAUGHT ARTIST
My art is propelled by feeling and from that personal source, images emerge. I am both an intuitive and a self-taught artist who delights in the mysterious process of journeying into unknown artistic terrains. I seldom know in advance what images will emerge and that is exciting.
ON DRAWING
As well as enjoying painting, I also have great fun illustrating my poetry books, largely black and white cartoons which are often satirical. There are so many forms that art can take!
MY HANDS ARE MY MAIN TOOL
When I am deeply involved in the process of painting, my hands seem to select which of the many paint tools to use that I have my disposable which includes my fingers and my hands!
UNBROKEN LINES WITH FLOW ACRYLICS
I love drawing with flow acrylics and keeping the lines both unbroken and undulating. It feels natural, spontaneous and meditative.
THREADS OF WHITE & GOLD WITHIN THE FOREST
I just let the art happen and gave it a fluidity in this multi-layered, flow-acrylic painting of a thick, barely penetrable, forest. Just imagine the amount of life within the woods!
I AM ON A JOURNEY
As soon as I walk into my studio, I feel open to allowing things to happen. When I paint, I feel I am on a journey and I don’t know where it is going to take me. I disappear into paints, into time and into work-play. Now what could be better than that?
CREATIVITY IS ABUNDANT
I enjoy sharing my art, be they small or large paintings, simply because I love the doing so much. I hope that other people as well, will derive the same enjoyment from sharing their art. After all, creativity is not about competition; it’s about the doing.
IT’S THE FEELING THAT I AM AFTER
Many art technique ideas come to me because I am looking for short cuts: illustrating with flow acrylics is faster than with dipping pen and ink and the unbroken lines have the look and feel of icing on a cake.
FANTASY: A DIFFERENT FORM OF REALITY
The genesis of my paintings is often the desire to penetrate what I call a glimpse, which, when I enter, becomes almost alive in a fantasy-reality realm. Through the texture and dimensions of my paintings, I discover the images that I wish to bring to life. It was through many layers of thought that THE WORLD OF GLIMPSE came into being.
THE WORLD OF GLIMPSE
The World of Glimpse – A unique and beautiful coffee table book where art, literature and theater combine. THE WORLD OF GLIMPSE is a fantasy world of contagious rhythms and luminous color.
